The Palladium System
Integrated Nano-Technologies LLC (INT) is bringing to market a novel system to detect and identify small quantities of biological material. This system is rapid and can be integrated into a field or point-of-care device making it ideal for a variety of applications including: medical, forensics and environmental diagnostics.
The Palladium System is a portable diagnostic system that identifies biological material based upon its nucleic acid sequences. The system is made up of a portable battery powered electronic test reader and a single use disposable cartridge. The disposable cartridge consists of a microchip enclosed in an injection molded plastic cartridge. The microchip sensor can be programmed to test for dozens of targets simultaneously. The cartridge design provides for reliable performance and low manufacturing costs.
The initial product design is depicted below. The system reader will weigh less than five pounds and have sufficient battery power to run more than 10 tests on a single charge. Alternatively, the unit can be plugged in. The unit will automate all steps from sample preparation through analysis and reporting of results and will carry out a complete analysis in under twenty minutes. All needed reagents are supplied in the disposable cartridge and all waste is stored in the spent cartridge, minimizing system maintenance and cleaning. The units will be sealed to prevent damage from dust and water. In addition, the units will incorporate wireless and GPS capabilities to automatically record and communicate test results.
